conclusions patients with normal exercise echocardiogram results regardless of ischemia or chest pain during the test had excellent outcomes over a one-year follow-up. objectives the aim of this cross sectional study was to assess the prognosis of patients with negative exercise echocardiographic results over a one-year period follow-up. patients and methods the outcomes of 336 patients who had normal exercise echocardiograms were examined. all clinical and exercise echocardiogram parameters were recorded. patients were followed up for 1 year. end points were defined as cardiac death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, hospital admission for coronary artery disease, and coronary revascularization. results mean age was 54.55 ± 10.34 years. 63.4 % were women. the most frequent risk factor was hypertension. there was no significant statistical difference between men and women regarding the prevalence of systemic hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and history of coronary artery bypass grafting. 5.67% of men and 8.9 % of women had positive exercise tolerance test for ischemia. hemodynamic parameters, diastolic function, severity of mitral regurgitation, pulmonary artery pressures, peak strain rate were not significantly different between men and women, but rest strain rates were significantly lower in women. total exercise times and exercise capacity were higher in men. after a 1-year follow-up there was no cardiac events and mortality. background exercise echocardiography is a well-validated technique for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease. in addition to the diagnostic role, it also provides useful prognostic information.

The prognostic value of normal exercise myocardial perfusion imaging and exercise echocardiography: a meta-analysis.

OBJECTIVES The purpose of this work was to determine the prognostic value of normal exercise myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) tests and exercise echocardiography tests, and to determine the prognostic value of these imaging modalities in women and men. BACKGROUND Exercise MPI and exercise echocardiography provide prognostic information that is useful in the risk stratification of patients w...

[Prognostic value of treadmill exercise echocardiography].

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES Exercise echocardiography (EE) is useful for diagnosing coronary disease, but little is known about its value for risk stratification. We aimed to determine: a) whether data from EE supplemented clinical data and data from exercise testing and resting echocardiography in predicting cardiac events; and b)whether the number and location of abnormal regions and their re...

One-Year Follow-Up of Radiologic and Clinical Findings in Children with Prenatal and Neonatal Hydronephrosis

Background & Aims: Hydronephrosis is a common problem in prenatal and newborn infants diagnosed by ultrasonography. Bladder to ureter reflux, the upper or lower urinary tract obstruction, and neurogenic bladder are the most common causes of hydronephrosis in newborns and infants. Methods: In this study, 100 neonates and infants with hydronephrosis were observed clinically and laboratorically fo...

Pulmonary embolism: one-year follow-up with echocardiography doppler and five-year survival analysis.

BACKGROUND The long-term prognosis for patients with pulmonary embolism (PE) is dependent on the underlying disease, degree of pulmonary hypertension (PH), and degree of right ventricular (RV) dysfunction. A precise description of the time course of pulmonary artery pressure (PAsP)/RV function is therefore of importance for the early identification of persistent PH/RV dysfunction in patients tr...

Prognostic value of exercise echocardiography in diabetic patients

BACKGROUND Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of death in diabetic patients. Although exercise echocardiography (EE) is established as a useful method for diagnosis and stratification of risk for CAD in the general population, there are few studies on its value as a prognostic tool in diabetic patients. The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the value of EE in predict...

Prognostic Value of Normal Stress Echocardiography in Obese Patients

BACKGROUND Chest pain is a common problem in obese patients. Because of the body habitus, the results of noninvasive evaluation for CAD may be limited in this group. METHODS We reviewed the records of 1446 consecutive patients who had undergone clinically indicated stress echocardiography (SE). We compared major adverse cardiac events (MACE; myocardial infarction, cardiac intervention, cardia...
